Stanley Charles "Stan" Kindred

Stanley Charles “Stan” Kindred, 66, of North Vernon, passed away at 12:25 p.m. on January 2, 2020, at his residence after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Born October 5, 1953, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Charles Howard Kindred and Wilma LaVerne (Griffith) Kindred. He married Deanna Gayle on August 31, 1979 in Indianapolis.

Stan was a 1972 graduate of Southport High School and retired from being a Safety Director for Stone Belt Freight Lines in Bloomington after a lifelong career in the trucking industry. He was a member of the Freemasons and Scottish Rites in Indianapolis, Indiana Motor Truck Association, and an instructor with the FMCSA. Stan enjoyed attending car shows with his 1969 Ford Torino, hunting, bowling, woodworking, coaching softball for his daughters and spending time with his grandkids.

Stan is survived by his wife of 40 years, Deanna; daughters, Amanda Kindred of Whiteland and Tammy (Eric) Simmons of Milton, Kentucky;  grandchildren, Johanna and Steven Simmons both of Milton, Kentucky; twin brother, Steve (Jenny) Kindred of Greenwood; nieces and nephews, Chris Kindred and family of Greenwood, Cheryl Doss and family of Martinsville, Margie Kindred of Winter Haven, Florida; father and mother in-law, Dee and Lora Gayle of Commiskey; brother in-law, Raymond Gayle and his family of Commiskey; sisters in-law, Melissa Johnson of Monroe City, Colleen Black of Palmyra, and Liz Heilman of Commiskey and their families; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; half-brother, Charles Kindred; and grandparents, Harry and Shirley Griffith.

A closing prayer will be given ‪at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Family and friends may call at the funeral home ‪on Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the closing prayer.
