Violet Marie (Worthington) Phillips

Violet Marie Phillips, 73, of North Vernon passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018,  at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital.

Born April 25, 1944, in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of John Henry and Mildred Riley Worthington. She married George Nicholas Phillips on June 14, 1975 in Vandalia, Ohio. He preceded her in death on October 28, 2002.

Mrs. Phillips worked the assembly line for Arvin Industries for 25 years retiring in 1997. She was a former member of Vernon Baptist Church in Vernon. She enjoyed donating to the Girls and Boys Club, Our Hospice, going to casino’s, traveling and going out to eat. She also loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her son, Stanley H. (Penny) Bixler of North Vernon; brothers, Gene (Eileen) Acles of Dayton, Ohio, Jack (Wanda) Acles of Indianapolis, Indiana and Melvin Acles of Lady Lake, Florida; sisters, Norma (John) Schultz of Port St. Lucie, Florida and Phyllis Barrows of Midway, Ohio; grandchildren, Joshua and Stanley E. Bixler both of North Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, Keith Acles and sister, Eleanor Foreman.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2018, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with the Rev. Don Morris officiating. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Burial will be in the Dupont Cemetery in Dupont.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
