William Gootee II Obituary

William Joseph Gootee II, 54, of Scipio, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2018, at his residence.

Born June 8, 1964, in Seymour, Mr. Gootee was the son of William Joseph and Rosann (Evans) Gootee.

Mr. Gootee was a 1982 graduate of Jennings County High School and worked as the assistant branch director for Help at Home for 30 plus years. He worked for and was the union president of the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center for 20 years and a caregiver with DSI. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Mr. Gootee enjoyed watching and playing sports, fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his sons, Adam (Andrea Adams-Gootee) Gootee of Scipio and Jeff Gootee, of North Vernon; daughters, Tiffany (Loren Jr.) Lamson and Bobbie Rodgers, both of Madison; brother, Gary (Beth) Gootee of North Vernon; sisters, Kathy Gootee and Jill Gootee, both North Vernon; grandchildren, Braxon Headlee and Maverik Gootee, both of Taylorsville, Adryanna Traylor, Kamden Ashcroft, and Aiden Adams all of North Vernon, Gabriel Shelpman, Loren Lamson III, Noralynn Lamson, Alixa Bentz, Jace Medina, Kingston Gomez, and Arantxa Gomez all of Madison.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life for Mr. Gootee will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the North Vernon Education and Training Center – Elsner Hall 1200 W. O&M Ave, North Vernon.
