Alice Jean Palmer, 90, of North Vernon, passed away at 2:42 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus.
Born August 16, 1932, in Butlerville, she was the daughter of Harry and Ida (Crulo) Kuntz. She married James Edward Palmer on June 8, 1950, in North Vernon; he preceded her in death on June 1, 1982.
Alice was a 1950 graduate of North Vernon High School and was the co-owner and bookkeeper for Sinclair/Kiel Brothers Oil in North Vernon; she also drove a cab in North Vernon for ten years and was a bartender and cook for Christopher’s in North Vernon for ten years. Alice was a member of First Baptist Church in North Vernon, Goldie Nicholson Circle of First Baptist Church, and was a former member of Smiling Seniors, Women’s Card Club, both in North Vernon and Swinging Square Dancers. She enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, going for walks, and working word search puzzles.
Survivors include her son, David “Joe” (Patty) Palmer of North Vernon; her daughters, Donna (Keith) Holder and Deborah Jean Palmer, both of North Vernon.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
A funeral service for Alice will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2023, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with Bob Ochs officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
Memorials in honor of Alice may be made through the funeral home to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Foundation or the American Heart Association.
