Andy John Campbell, 86, of North Vernon, passed away at 5:39 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital.
Born February 9, 1938, in Sneedville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Silas Iseral Campbell and Ethel (Livasey) Campbell. He married MaryJane (Strahl) Campbell on June 29, 1957, at Vernon Baptist Church; she preceded him in death on October 6, 2010.
Andy graduated from Vernon High School in 1956 and served in the U.S. National Guard from 1955 until 1961. He was a welder and metal worker for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus for 32 years and was a member of the North Vernon Masonic Lodge #59 “The Blue Lodge”. Andy taught and played guitar, and he loved hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his daughters, Anita (Marvin) Biehle of North Vernon and Andrea (Jim) Clark of Hartsville; grandchildren, Marnita (Joe) Schwartz of Greensburg, Jake (Kyndra) Biehle and Audrey Jane (Eli Vawter) Clark, both of North Vernon, and Austin Clark of Hartsville; great grandchild, Jonita Jane Schwartz of Greensburg; and step great grandchild, Gemma Schwartz of Greensburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his daughter, Angela Jane Campbell; and his brother, Robert Campbell.
A funeral service for Andy will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with Rev. Dan Corbin officiating. A Masonic Memorial Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. by members of North Vernon Masonic Lodge #59. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be held in the Vernon Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home in honor of Andy to the Vernon Alumni Association.
