Ann Dixon

Ann Dixon, 99, of North Vernon, passed away at 11:57 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024, at her residence.

Born March 3, 1924, in Catalpa, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Britt and Leaford (Villiens) Wages. She married Robert Jay Dixon on June 11, 1948, in Fresno, California; he preceded her in death on July 1, 2009.

Ann was a 1942 graduate of Plum Bayou High School in Wright, Arkansas and attended Asbury College in Kentucky for one year. She worked as a secretary for the First Christian Church in North Vernon for 26 years retiring in 1996. Ann was a member of the First Christian Church in North Vernon where she also worked in the nursery and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed reading, quilting, scrapbooking, painting pictures and cooking. Ann loved gardening and was in the National Beet Cookout where she won the state competition three times.

She is survived by her son, Kavin (Bobbi Roberts) Dixon of North Vernon; daughters, Brenda Dixon and Ruth Ann (Dennis) Burgmeier, both of North Vernon; brothers, Don (Linda) Wages of Clarksville, Arkansas and Ricky (Judy) Wages of Ozone, Arkansas; grandchildren, Britt (Carie) Burgmeier, Wendy (Brad) Brown, and Shaun (Alyssa) Dixon, all of North Vernon and Nick (Marci) Burgmeier of Corydon; and twelve great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, David, Ishmael and Sam Wages; and sister, Avis Wages.

A funeral service for Ann will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Ron Bridgewater and Rev. Marcus Speer officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. The burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorials may be made in honor of Ann through the funeral home to the First Christian Church or Our Hospice of Jennings County.
