Armilda "Mitzie" Jeanne Spratt

Armilda Jeanne “Mitzie” Spratt, 80, of North Vernon, passed away at 9:14 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2019, at Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.

Born October 5, 1939, in North Vernon, she was the daughter of Frank L. and Mable Jeanette (Smith) Bishop. She married Curtis Clayton “Jack” Spratt on March 4, 1961, in Exeter, California; he preceded her in death on February 8, 2010.

Mitzie was 1956 graduate of Stockton High School in Stockton, California and was a homemaker and housewife. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in North Vernon, a former member of V.F.W. Post #9972 Ladies Auxiliary in Sierra Vista, Arizona, and a member of (MOCA) Military Order of the Cootie. Mitzie enjoyed camping, horseback riding, reading, table games, and crossword puzzles. She loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Theresa Lynn Oblak of North Vernon; sons, James Curtis Spratt of North Vernon and Charles Vernal (Mary Ellen) Spratt of Huachuca City, Arizona; sisters, Barbara Joyce (Lowell) Reid of Golden Valley, Arizona and Janice Carol (Arlie) Phillips of Madison; step-brother, Larry Anderson of Kelseyville, California; grandchildren, Dorothy Jeanne (Eric) Smith, Christopher Alan (Sara) Oblak, Clayton James Spratt, and Janella Sweatt, all of North Vernon, Jeremiah Patrick Spratt, Mariah Ashley Spratt, and Josalyn Rochel Spratt, all of Sierra Vista, Arizona, and Victoria Rose Spratt of Grand Rapids, Idaho; and great-grandchildren, James W. Gaines of Portageville, Missouri and Levin C. Gaines, Tristan S. Gaines, Solstyn C. Gaines, Shaileen C. Gaines, Alexander Smith, Carter A. Oblak, Jailynn N. Oblak, Dylon Mollenhoff, Kyleigh Amis, Adilynn Oblak, Eli Oblak, Amiela Jared, and Evan Jared, all of North Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her step-sister, Nancy Anderson.

A funeral service for Mitzie will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with Rev. Marvin Sweet officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society or to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
