Armond “Takoda White Horse” Ison Jr., 63, of Butlerville, passed away at 8:01 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.
Born February 5, 1959, in Bartholomew County, he was the son of Armond Ison Sr., and Shirley (Hardy) Ison. He married Annette Young on June 25, 1987, in Bedford, Kentucky; she survives.
Armond served in the United States Marine Corp’s from 1980 until 1986. He attended Ivy Tech. Armond worked in shipping for Lowes Lumber for 22 years, retiring in July of 2016. He was a co-owner of Talmid Street Thrift Shop. Armond enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting deer and squirrels, doing yardwork, storytelling and was a writer.
Surviving with his wife, Annette, are his son, Joshua L. Young of Connersville; daughters, Olsa (Jon) Lawson of Westport, Courtney (Jeremy) Hermann of Scipio, Nakkitta (Darren) Rondeau of North Vernon and Sophia Young of Jeffersonville; mother, Shirley Ison of Westport; sister, Sheena Ison of Butlerville; grandchildren, Phoenix Parker and Cheyanne Parker, both of Westport, Keegan Young of Yuma, Arizona, Kerisha Young of Madison, Jonathan Young of Medora, Mikheal Young of Bedford, Jasmine Greenlee of North Vernon, Serenidy Young, and Cody Young, both of Connersville, Soniya Young of Indianapolis, and Isis Hughes of Kansas and great-grandchildren, Ezekial Young of Madison, Oakley Young of Medora, and Arayneah Young of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A funeral service for Armond will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with Archie Gardner officiating. With full military honors by members of the Marine Honor Guard and Matt Hester Post #2021 V.F.W. at 1:00 p.m. with visitation to follow military honors until 4:00 p.m.
