Barbara Jean (Leonard) Scroggins

Barbara Jean Scroggins, 90, of Franklin, passed away at her home on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

Born on May 7, 1935, in Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Alice Mae (Arnold) Leonard. She married Ivan Scroggins on March 24, 1962, in Franklin; he survives.

Barbara worked on the assembly line for Western Electric in Indianapolis for 30 years before her retirement in 1985. She was a former member of the First Christian Church in North Vernon. Barbara enjoyed going to the casinos and playing slots.

Surviving with her husband of 63 years, Ivan, are her son, Robert (Joyce Morrow) Willliams of Columbus; former daughter-in-law, Sara Williams of Edinburgh; grandchildren, Nick Leonard of North Vernon and Grace Williams of Edinburgh.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Dennis Ray Leonard, and her brother, Bobby Leonard.

A funeral service for Barbara will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. The visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service at noon. The burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorials may be made in honor of Barbara through the funeral home to the Jennings County Parks and Recreation for planting trees.
