Barry Bias Obituary

Barry Randolph Bias, 76, of North Vernon, passed away at 11:35 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana in Columbus.

Born April 1, 1948, in Logan, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Robert and Beatrice (Kennedy) Bias. He married Paula (Adams) Bias on June 9, 1990, in San Jacinto; she survives.

Barry graduated with honors from North Gallia High School in Vinton, Ohio in 1966; he was proud to be the first freshman to be inducted into the Beta Club. He went on to work at Ford Motor Company in Detroit, Michigan before joining the U.S. Army. He served for a total of twelve years, including during the Vietnam War. He worked as a truck driver from 1989 until his retirement in 2012. Barry was a very talented musician that could play any instrument, but he was particularly skilled on the guitar. For many years he played country music in different parts of the country to earn his living, even having played in Germany during his deployment. He enjoyed carpentry and making things. He was said to “always have sawdust on him and a carpenter pencil in his pocket”.  Barry loved Jesus with all of his heart and was the greatest dad that his sons could ask for.

Surviving with his wife, Paula, are his sons, Bill (Amy) White of North Vernon and Bob (Chris) White of Columbus; brothers, David (Patrice) Bias of Pensacola, Florida and Danny (Martha) Bias of Langsville, Ohio; and grandchildren, Noah White, Kaylin White, and Zoe White, all of Columbus, and Jacob (Naomi) White of Washington state.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Larry Bias; and his sister, Brenda Cook.
