Benjamin Aaron "Ben" Gatewood

Benjamin Aaron “Ben” Gatewood, 44, of Versailles, passed away at 5:59 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Born June 30, 1981, in Columbus, he was the son of Kenny Gatewood and Cathy (Idlewine) Summa. He married Christine Branum on February 28, 2013, in Jennings County; she survives.

Ben worked for James D. Beam Distilling Company. He enjoyed camping, watching football, hunting, and target shooting.

Survivors include his wife, Christine; his father and stepmother, Kenny and Susan Gatewood of Westport; his mother and stepfather, Cathy and David Summa of Michigan; brothers, Joshua Michael Gatewood of Shelbyville and Aaron Nugent (Leah) of Westport; sister, Amber Pack (Kevin) of Westport; grandparents, Sandra Gatewood and Marilyn Runyan, both of Westport, and Virginia Houser of Columbus; and several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Paul Aaron Gatewood, Francis Idlewine and Delbert Runyon and uncles, Dale and Jeff Idlewine.

In keeping with his and his family’s wishes cremation is planned with no services to be held at this time. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon.

Memorials in honor of Ben may be made through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society.
