Bert Vires, 64, of North Vernon, passed away at 10:05 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at his residence.
Born April 24, 1955, in Hazard, Kentucky, he was the son of Britt Vires Sr. and Lois Combs Vires. He married Terri Lee Custer on November 11, 1977, at the Methodist Church in North Vernon, she survives.
Bert worked as a cook for Keepsake Village in Columbus for 10 years before retiring in 2019 and had worked several years for National Veneer in Seymour. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and working on engines.
Surviving with his wife of 42 years, Terri Vires are son, John Lee Vires of North Vernon; brothers, Britt (Eva Jean) Vires Jr. of Deputy, Ricky (Norma) Vires of Terre Haute and Todd (Hillary) Vires of Austin; sisters, Margaret Ann Copple of Deputy, Rita (Roy) Jett and Krissy Ann (Greg) Hunter, both of Austin, and Mindy Gail (Donnie) Misamore of Blocher.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and stepsons, Ronald Neal Pace and Paul Lillard Pace; brother, David Vires; sisters, Linda Lou Vires and Chloe Lynn Vires.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2020, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Teresa Poole officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Marble Corner Cemetery in Madison.
