Betty Jean Bannister, 95, of New Port Richey, Florida, passed away at 5:28 a.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at the Suncoast Hospice Care Center in Palm Harbor, Florida.
Born July 22, 1930, in Jennings County, she was the daughter of Fred Sr. and Marie (Clarkson) Corbin.
Betty was a Paris Crossing graduate who farmed in Jennings County before moving to Florida, where she worked at Creative Graphic Signs in Ocala as an office manager. She was a former member of the Burnt Pines Church of Christ in North Vernon and a member of the Central Christian Church in Ocala, Florida where she hosted parties for her Sunday School Class. Her hobbies included fishing and cooking. Betty inspired her family and friends with her strong faith.
Survivors include her sons – Greg (Wendy) Bannister of Thompson Station, TN, and Tracy Bannister of Dunedin, FL; daughter – Cynthia “Suzie” Evans of Commiskey; grandchildren – Shannon Everroad of Zephyrhills, FL, Shane (Marie) Everroad of Greenwood, Andrew (Diane) Bannister of Columbia, TN, Barry (Amanda) Bannister of Thompson Station, TN, Chad (Keisha Schmidt) Bannister of Jasper, TN, Emilee (Todd) Cook of St. Petersburg, FL, Austin Bannister of Tampa, FL, Ashlee (Joey) Gleason of Palm Harbor, FL, and Josh (Kirby Powers) Bannister of Ybor City, FL; and great grandchildren – Caitlyn and Courtney Everroad of Greenwood, Brooks Bannister of Jasper, TN, and Turner Cook of St. Petersburg, FL.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; sisters – Lula Mae Thompson, Mary Lou Wilkerson and Joanne Hauersperger; brothers – Fred Corbin Jr., John Frank Corbin, Kenneth Corbin, and Harry Corbin.
The funeral for Betty will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Corbin officiating. The visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.
