Bill Couch Smith, 79, of North Vernon, passed away at 3:44 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Majestic Health Care of North Vernon.
Born October 14, 1945, in Clay County, Kentucky, he was the son of Frank and Thelma (Couch) Smith.
Bill retired in 1987 from the North Vernon Forge where he worked as a Hammer Operator and had previously Impact Forge in North Vernon for 1 year. He was a member of the Clifty Creek Coon Hunters Club in Dupont. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Bill is survived by his sons, William Steven “Billy” Smith and Rick Earl Smith; daughter, Trisha Smith Bertram; stepson, J.R. Adams; first wife of 17 years, Georgetta Izora Warner; second wife of 35 year, Patricia Adams Smith; brothers, J.D. Smith and Donald Smith; sisters, Annalee Collins, Ivory Campbell, Darlene Smith, and Evelyn Brock; grandchildren, Julia Henry, Patricia Perkins, Pierce Baker, Wayl0n Baker, Billy Smith, Keegen Adams, Jason Bertram, and Kylie Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Pamela Sue Smith Baker; and siblings, Melvin, Ricky, Bob, Thern and Emajean Smith and Sylvia Brumley.
A funeral service for Bill will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. The visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 5:00 p.m. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, in the Tea Creek Cemetery in Jennings County.
