Bonita Ann Wells, 75, of Commiskey, passed away at 5:27 a.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Norton Scott Hospital in Scottsburg.
Born November 11, 1950, in Scottsburg, the daughter of Leland and Margie Carolyn (Collins) Meadows. She married James Garfield Wells on July 21, 1970, in Scottsburg; he survives.
Bonita was a 1968 graduate of Scottsburg High School and worked for Stream Cliff Farms for seven years before retiring in 2011. She enjoyed knitting, making quilts, wood carving, bowling, attending races, painting crafts, listening to music and playing mountain dulcimer.
Surviving with her husband of 55 years, James, are her sons, James (Mindy Osborne) Wells and Joshua (Carri) Wells, both of Commiskey; brother, Billy Meadows of Scottsburg; sisters, Susie Colwell of Blocher and Becky (Marvin) Dunham of Scottsburg; and grandchildren, Gabriel (Paige Davidson) Wells, Delaney Wells, and Brantley Wells, all of Commiskey, Alyssa Wells of California, and Nick Densford of Scottsburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Terry Densford; brother, Russell Meadows; an infant sister; and grandson, Tyler Wells.
A funeral service for Bonita will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 28, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with Rev. Don Morris officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be on Friday from 12:00 p.m. (noon) until the time of the service. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery in Jennings County.
