Bonnie Rae (Rooks) Back

Bonnie Rae Back, 74, of North Vernon, passed away at 10:10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at Compassus Inpatient Care in Indianapolis.

Born March 3, 1948, in Hamilton County, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Carl Samuel and Dorothy (Frazier) Rooks. She married Robert Back on May 12, 1972, in North Vernon; he preceded her in death on July 30, 2019.

Bonnie was a homemaker and a housewife in addition to having worked in the upholstery business. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in North Vernon and enjoyed crocheting, shopping, and making ceramics.

She is survived by her children, Sandra (Mark Smith) Moore, Roger Back, Randy Back, and Gary Back, all of North Vernon; brothers, David Rooks and Wayne Rooks; grandchildren, Kendra Moore and Kelsey Back, both of North Vernon, Brittany (Ryan) Black of Bloomington, and Rachael Back of Houston, Texas; and great grandchildren, Jace Thompson, Kinley Bishop, and Cayleb Bishop, all of North Vernon, and Henry Black of Bloomington.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her brother, Steve Rooks.

A funeral service for Bonnie will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Father Jerry Byrd officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
