Brian Keith Hempstead

Brian Keith Hempstead, 54, of North Vernon, passed away at 11:58 p.m. on Monday, April 24, 2023, at Majestic Care of North Vernon.

Born October 2, 1968, in Columbus, he was the son of Robert Benjamin and Melvie (Smith) Hempstead. He married Robin Ann Gault on July 21, 1990, at the Butlerville Baptist Church in Butlerville; she survives.

Brian was a 1987 graduate of Jennings County High School. He worked for Indiana Mentor for six months and had previously worked for Res-Care for six months, Scottsburg IGA for three months, and as a meat cutter for Tower IGA in North Vernon and the North Vernon Save-A-Lot. He was a member of Christ Covenant Church in Seymour and volunteered at the Blue Tassel Farm in Zenas. Brian enjoyed hunting, fishing, and family time with his grandchildren.

Surviving with his wife, Robin, is his son, Brian Edward Hempstead Jr. of North Vernon; Hollie Shaw of North Vernon; brother, Robert Allen (Tammy) Hempstead Jr. of Columbus; sister, Cheryl Wade of Columbus; and grandchildren, Isaak Hempstead of Triangle, Virginia, and Serenity Shaw and Michael Alan Shaw, both of North Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Tammy Durham.

A memorial service for Brian will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Richard Prather officiating. The visitation with family and friends will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.

Memorials may be made in honor of Brian through the funeral home to Blue Tassel Farms, American Cancer Society or American Liver Foundation.
