Carla Jean (Knapp) Erwin

Carla Jean Erwin, 73, of North Vernon, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022, at her residence.

Born February 3, 1949, in Columbus, she was the daughter of Carl Eugene and Imogene (Wilbur) Knapp. She married Danny Thomas Erwin on March 1, 1970, in Columbus; he preceded her in death on October 29, 2018

Carla was a 1967 graduate of Columbus North High School and a 1985 graduate of Ivy Tech Community College in Columbus with a degree in accounting and business management. She worked for the Ramada Inn in Columbus for ten years, during her ten years she worked as a waitress, cashier, and hostess. Carla was a member of Chestnut Street Community Church in North Vernon and enjoyed volunteering, working with Girl Scouts and homeschooling.

Survivors include her sons, Toby Erwin, and Corby (Kristen) Erwin both of North Vernon; daughter, Kimberly Earl of North Vernon; stepson, Billy (Darlene) Erwin of North Vernon; brothers, William (Patty) Knapp of Columbus and Jerry (Glenda) Reedy of Hope; sister, Joyce (Jan) Konradi of Columbus; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a son, Mark Erwin.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2022, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, June 23, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will follow in the Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus.

Memorials may be made in honor of Carla through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
