Carlis Theodore “Ted” Fields, 71, of Columbus, passed away at 2:52 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at his residence.
Born April 20, 1954, in Seymour, he was the son of the late, Arthur Oscar Fields Sr. and Delta (Adams) Fields.
Ted served in the United States Army and was a self-employed mechanic, he also worked for Henshaw Roofing in Columbus for 20 years. Ted enjoyed drawing, poetry, writing short stories, riding motorcycles and was a collector.
Survivors include his son, Robby (Fawnda) Fields of Dover, Florida; his daughter, Angie Fields of North Vernon; brothers, Art (Elizabeth) Fields Jr. of North Vernon, Arthur Theodore Fields and Harry Thomas Fields, both of Kentucky; sisters, Jackie Marling and Marsha Fields, both of Columbus, and Sadie Smith of Kentucky; grandchildren, Blake Fields of Columbus, Haley Fields of Scipio, and Cody Fields of North Vernon; and great-grandchildren, Olivia and Chloie Fields, both of Scipio and Luka and Zayden Fields, both of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service for Ted will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. The burial will follow in the Baldwin Cemetery in Vernon with military graveside rites by members of Matt Hester Post #2021 V.F.W.
Memorials may be made in honor of Ted through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society.
