Carolyn Sue Keys, 82, of North Vernon, passed away at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Our Hospice Inpatient Facility in Columbus, IN.
Born July 15, 1940, in Lawrenceburg, IN, she was the daughter of Thomas Glenn and Thelma Lorrene (Ledford) Jackson. She married Robert Keys on April 28, 1961, at the 1st Baptist Church in North Vernon; he survives.
Carolyn was a 1958 graduate of Clyde High School in Clyde, Ohio. She worked 28 years as a secretary for Cummins before retiring and was a secretary for Bob Brown Attorney, Judge Carson, and John Klingner at Union Bank. She also was a Court Recorder for Jennings County and worked at Muscatatuck State Developmental Center and Dunlaps in Columbus. Carolyn was a member of the Scipio Presbyterian Church and Vernon Historical Society. Her hobbies included quilting, which were displayed at the fair, and being a seamstress.
Surviving with her husband, Robert, is a son – Greg (Liz) Keys of North Vernon; a daughter – Lori (Guy) Euler of North Vernon; a brother – Larry (Betty) Jackson of North Vernon; Grandchildren – Hunter (Kyndyl) Euler, Tyler Keys, Kaleigh Keys, Olivia (Roger) Owens, Chelsey (Justin) Patterson, all of North Vernon, and Blane Owen of Portland, Oregon; Great Grandchildren – Brock and Kimberleigh Barr, Allison Patterson, Izzabella Bailey, Karleigh Kellar, Brantlee Speer, Atlas Owens, and Carter Euler, all of North Vernon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Thelma Jackson; three brothers – Ronald, Les, and Harold Jackson; and one sister – Juanita Burr.
The funeral services for Carolyn will be 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon, IN with Rev. Kendall Wildey officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be at the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, IN.
