Catherine Anne "Kay" (Scott) Smith

Catherine Anne “Kay” Smith, 83, of North Vernon, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2019, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.

Born May 27, 1936, in Madison, she was the daughter of Lee Daniel and Catherine Inez (Turner) Scott. She married Calvin Smith on June 26, 1954, at the First Baptist Church in North Vernon, he preceded her in death on December 18, 1964.

Mrs. Smith worked as a Foster Grandparent at North Vernon Elementary from 2000 until 2016 and had previously worked as a cook for Hoosier Street Grill in North Vernon, a beautician, and an apartment manager in Tennessee and Texas. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in North Vernon. She enjoyed golfing, attending church, singing and playing cards.

Survivors include her sons, Ernest Lee (Mona) Smith of Dupont and Richard Calvin (Kathy Perry) Smith of Madison; daughter, Eulonda “Lonnie” (Paul) Miller of North Vernon; sister, Shirley Murphy of Butlerville; grandchildren, Christina (Barry) Franklin of Seymour, Jeremy Jakins of Florida, Catie Miller of California, Sherri (Brian) Scott of Brown County, Darren (Carla) Smith of Holton, and Jake (Cheryl) Smith of Dupont; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and brothers, Arthur, John and George Franklin Scott.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 12, 2019, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Garry Prange officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, August 12, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Graham Presbyterian Cemetery in Jennings County.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
