Catherine Harris "Katie" (Goldstein) Murphy

Catherine Harris “Katie” Murphy, 77, of North Vernon, passed away at 6:47 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus.

Born July 21, 1946, in Los Angeles, California, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Freda (Abrams) Goldstein. She married Alson Murphy on August 8, 1965, in Burbank, California; he survives.

Katie was a homemaker and housewife who loved crafting.

Surviving with her husband, Alson, is her son, Tom Murphy of Buffalo, New York; daughters, Robin (Chris Lydle) Murphy of North Vernon and Patty Pinto of Idaho; sister, Frankie Sorentino of California; grandchildren, Kyle (Staci) Murphy of Illinois, Colin Lydle of North Vernon, Shaina Murphy and Sheila Murphy, both of Idaho, and Thomas Murphy, Lydia Murphy and Samantha Murphy, all of Buffalo, New York; and great-grandchildren, Daniel Gildea, Neveah Gildea, Emily Gildea, Elizabeth Gildea, and Zephyr Cantarero, all of Idaho, and Saxon Murphy, Scarlett Murphy, and Silas Murphy, all of Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents;  grandsons, Michael David Butler and Matthew Pinto; brother, Ricky Goldstein; and sisters, Gertrude Goldstein and Lois Danforth.

A private family service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery for both Katie and her husband, Alson, who passed away on February 28, 2024. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon.
