Cecil Mark Daugherty, 68, of North Vernon, passed away at 3:59 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at his residence.
Born January 27, 1955, in Shelbyville, he was the son of the late Morris and Marjorie (Henley) Daugherty. He married Jennie Taggart on June 25, 1976, at the First Methodist Church in North Vernon; she survives.
Cecil served in the United States Marine Corp and was a semi-driver, driving for Rollend Rose Trucking in Greensburg, before retiring in 2023. He had previously driven for Sam Campbell Enterprises in Greensburg for several years. Cecil enjoyed flying remote-controlled helicopters, hiking, fishing, and being outdoors. He loved going to Brown County.
Surviving with his wife, Jennie, are his daughters, Lisa (Michael) James of Camby and Heidi Spurlock of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Jordan (Chasity) Spurlock of North Vernon, Jazimar (Justin) Bowers of London, Kentucky, and Samantha Caster and Randall James both of Camby; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arthur, James, Frank, Tommy, and Mike Daughtery; and great-grandson, Xavier Ross.
In keeping with his and his family’s wishes, cremation is planned with no services to be held at this time. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon.
Memorials may be made in honor of Cecil through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society.
