Charles Richard “Dick” Clarkson, 81, of Dupont, passed away at 3:31 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2020, at his residence.
Born August 20, 1938, in Indianapolis, he was the son of the late Harvey P. and Elma E. (Gasper) Clarkson. He married Carol Ruth Ann Shelley on March 31, 1956, at Bethel Church in Indianapolis; she preceded him in death on December 14, 2011.
Mr. Clarkson was a 1956 graduate of Decatur Central High School in Indianapolis and worked as a union steamfitter until his retirement. He was a member of Dupont Masonic Lodge in Dupont and Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #440. He enjoyed working, farming, driving tractors, and spending time with family.
Survivors include sons, Chuck (Jo Ellen) Clarkson of Charlotte, North Carolina and Kenny (Andrea) Clarkson of Fortville; daughters, Debbie (Bob) Harmon of Columbus, and Angie Clarkson of Dupont; sister, Judith (Wayne) Bledsoe of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Jacob (Clarissa) Clarkson of Arcadia, Emily Clarkson of Greenwood, Taylor (Morgan) Clarkson of Indianapolis, Lyndley Clarkson of Cleveland, Ohio, Nicholas (Sarah) Clarkson of Fortville, Matthew (Rachel) Harmon of Urbandale, Iowa; Lucas (Caroline) Harmon and Shelley Harmon, both of Lafayette, Nick Clarkson of Sarasota, Florida, Lexey Clarkson of Charlotte , North Carolina, and Kelly Clarkson, Ian (Bobbie Jo) Clarkson and Olivia Clarkson, all of Dupont, Indiana; and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, brother, Harvey O. Clarkson, Sisters, Alma Luella Matlock, Eunice Ann Stenger and Thelma Turner.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2020, in the Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis, with the Pastor Tim Poer officiating. Family and Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service on Friday, June 19, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, June 20, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis. The family request that all those attending the service at Floral Park Cemetery to please wear face mask.
Memorials may be made in honor of Mr. Clarkson through the funeral home to the Dupont Volunteer Fire Department.
