Charles William “Billy” Cooper, 58, of North Vernon, passed away on January 9, 2022, at Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born April 29, 1963, at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, he was the son of the late Charles Everett Cooper Jr. and Josephine Ann “JoAnn” (Marksberry) Cooper. He married Teresa Stumbo on June 11, 1983, in Fairborn, Ohio; she survives.
Billy graduated high school and immediately joined the Air Force. After Billy left his service in the Air Force, he went to work maintenance for Dolly Madison in Columbus and Hostess in Indianapolis. Billy enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, and working on cars, especially classic cars. He loved spending time with his family and friends and hunting.
Surviving with his wife of 38 years, Teresa;, is his son, Christopher (Stevi Flemings) Cooper of Scipio; daughters, Cynthia (Chris) Eaton, Crystal (Jonah Stidham) Cooper and Chasity (Mike) Norris, all of North Vernon; sister, Tammy (Jeff) Ison of North Vernon; grandchildren, Kayla Stidham, Kyler Stidham, Brentley Norris, Charley Norris, Sadie Cooper, Jaxen Stidham, Lysic Cooper, Avilynn Nelson, Bristol Eaton, Kaymn Stidham, Hunter Cooper and Adley Norris, all of North Vernon; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and his loving dog, Bella Cooper.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Brayden Eaton; and mother-in-law, Carylon Stumbo.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 14, 2022, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon, with the Rev. Scott Chasteen and Rev. Daniel Ison officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon with military graveside rite by members of Matt Hester Post #2021 V.F.W. The family would prefer all people attending the service to please wear a mask.
Memorials may be made in honor of Billy to the V.F.W. for Veterans Affairs.
