Charles "Rusty" Russell Brown

Charles Russell “Rusty” Brown, 55, of North Vernon, passed away at 11:20 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at his residence.

Born November 7, 1966, in Seymour, he was the son of the late Charles I. and Kay (Boggs) Brown. He married Michelle (Fortner) Brown on October 3, 2002, at the Jennings County Courthouse in Vernon; she survives.

Rusty graduated from high school and worked as a welder for AJE Suspensions in Queensville. He was a member of the Vernon Baptist Church and Amvets Post #7 in North Vernon. He enjoyed fishing at the farm, boating, listening to music, playing horseshoes, and cracking jokes.

Surviving with his wife are his daughters, Cortney (Michael) Matthews of Delaware, Ohio and Cori Adkins of North Vernon; brothers, Tim (Lisa) Hunt of Sellersburg and Greg (Cyndi) Hunt of Seymour; sisters, Cindy (Bill) Hatfield of Florida and Sue Gay of Destin, Florida; and grandchildren, Skiler Fortner, Noah Lawver, and Braydon Lawver, of North Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents, Forest “Pops” and Laura Brown.

A funeral service for Rusty will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service with the Rev. Don Morris officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 23, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
