Cheryl Danette (McGinnis) Colwell

Cheryl Danette Colwell, 58, of Seymour, passed away at her home on Monday, September 16, 2024.

Born August 30, 1966, in Cherryville, North Carolina, she was the daughter of Danny and Sarah (Houser) McGinnis. She married Danny Colwell on April 1, 2011, in Seymour; he survives.

Cheryl graduated from Cherryville High School in Cherryville, North Carolina in 1984. She was a home health aide for Elder’s Journey in Bloomington for eight years.

She is survived by her husband; her mother, Sarah McGinnis of Lincolnton, North Carolina; sons, Chris Colwell of Hickory, North Carolina and Jeremy Colwell of Plattsburg, New York; daughters, Tamara (Joshua McWilliams) Cunningham of Cramerton, North Carolina and Ella Parkins of Seymour; brother, Chris Houser of Lenoir, North Carolina; sister, Angela (William) Taylor of Lincolnton, North Carolina; and grandchildren, Aurora Clark of Seymour and Grayson and Phoenix Parkins, both of Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her father and her brother, Timothy McGinnis.

In keeping with her and her family’s wishes, cremation is planned with no services to be held at this time. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon were entrusted to these arrangements.

Memorial donations in honor of Cheryl may be made through the funeral home to the Matt Hester VFW Post #2021 in North Vernon.
