Chester Peacock Obituary

Chester Leon Peacock, 75, of Commiskey, passed away at 7:50 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2020 at his residence.

Born May 1, 1945, in Paris Crossing, he was the son of Maynard and Estella Mae Peacock. He married Opal Davidson on November 5, 1964 in Uniontown; she survives.

Chester owned and operated the sawmill know as Peacock Mill in Commiskey for 47 years. He was a member of Coffee Creek Christian Church in Paris Crossing and a former member of the American Legion in Seymour. Chester enjoyed fishing, hunting and working.

Surviving with his wife, Opal Peacock, are sons, Chris (Lisa) Peacock of Austin, Mark (Tonya) Peacock of North Vernon, Tim Peacock and Chad Peacock, both of Commiskey, and Brian Peacock of Seymour; daughters, Robin (Aaron) Taskey of North Vernon and Amanda Peacock of Crothersville; brothers, Ralph Peacock and Virgil Peacock, both of Commiskey; sisters, Rosie (John) Ebbing of North Vernon, and Carol (Tom) Pyatt, Janice (Mike) Jones and Violet Gudgel, all of Commiskey; grandchildren, Ryan Peacock and Brittany (Charles) Hollan, both of Austin, Clarissa (Arlie Campbell) Peacock and Keaton Sprague, both of Crothersville, Trae (Leslie) Peacock, Kassidy (Brandon) Turner, Samantha Vires, Megan Taskey, and Toby Taskey, all of North Vernon, and Levi Peacock and Logan Peacock, both of Commiskey; and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Earl and Richard Peacock; and sisters, Katherine Corya and Evelyn Peacock.

A funeral service for Chester will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2020, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Visitation will be on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In compliance with CDC COVID-19 guidelines, only 25 people will be allowed in the funeral home at a time. We thank our families for their continued cooperation during these difficult times as we strive to help keep our community safe. Burial will follow in the Coffee Creek Christian Church Cemetery.
