Christy L. Brown Riley Combs

Christy L. Brown Riley Combs, 52, of North Vernon, passed away at 2:09 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2025, at her residence.

Born November 17, 1972, in Seymour she was the daughter of the late Steven Lee and Rickey Jane Brown. She married Paul E. Combs Jr. on June 10, 2021, in North Vernon; he survives.

Christy was a waitress for the former Ryan’s Steakhouse in Seymour for 8 years and was a member of The Worship Center in Westport. She enjoyed painting, coloring, gardening, fishing and taking rides.

Surviving with her husband, Paul; are her daughters, Rachelle (Nick) Hess and her two children of Mishawaka and Lindsay Tinsley of Salem; grandmother, Frieda Jewell Jackson of Salem; stepdaughter, Tehona “Tia” (William “Billy” Waltermire) Neal of North Vernon; step grandchildren, Daisy Hornback and Brooklyn Hornback, both of Paris Crossing, Halo Neal of Columbus, Nevaeh Neal of North Vernon, Brian Waltermire, Michael Waltermire, Brooke Waltermire, Nicholas Waltermire, K.W. Waltermire, Quentin Waltermire, and Chadwick Waltermire, all of Commiskey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Hailey Tinsley, and grandfather Kerney Jewell.

A funeral service for Christy will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Dale Boyd officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Mt Hebron Cemetery in Scottsburg.
