Cindy Lou (Merrit) Schafer

Cindy Lou Schafer, 65, of North Vernon, passed away at 8:03 a.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Majestic Care of North Vernon.

Born November 2, 1958, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late Helen Merrit.

Cindy was a homemaker who enjoyed hiking, camping, cooking, gardening and playing card games.

Survivors include her sons, Matt (Nikki) Schafer of North Vernon and David Schafer of Indianapolis; daughters, Summer Mathis of Indianapolis and Ashley (AJ) Wilson of Butlerville; sisters Elizabeth Donohue, Esther (Hank) Beckley, and Cathy (Rusty) Gleber, all of New York,  and Karen (Mike) Lindenmyer of Butlerville; grandchildren, Ean Schafer, Anthony Mathis, Grayson Mathis, Allyson Mathis, Matthew Mathis, Leila Schafer, Dillon Johnson, Dallas Waters and Haven Waters; and one great-grandson due in January.

She was preceded in death by her mother; brothers, Kenny, Fred and Tommy Merrit; and sister, Jackie Merrit.

A private family visitation will be held at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon.

Memorials may be made in honor of Cindy through the funeral home for expenses.
