Clara Mae (Bolden) Staten

Clara Mae Staten, 90, of North Vernon, passed away at 7:50 a.m. on Monday, July 29, 2024, at The Belmont Health and Rehabilitation in Columbus.

Born March 10, 1934, in North Vernon, she was the daughter of the late Percy M. and Hazel (Good) Bolden. She married Robert Staten on August 22, 1953, in North Vernon, he preceded her in death on April 30, 2003.

Clara was a 1953 graduate of North Vernon High School. She worked in the dietary department for the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville from 1970 until she retired on April 7, 1998. Clara was a member of the Second United Methodist Church in North Vernon. She enjoyed flowers and watching television. Clara loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, Kim (Janey Beck) Staten of North Vernon; daughters, Cindy (Larry) Lee of North Vernon and Jackie (Kenneth) Hunter of Columbus; sister, Dorothy Cooper of North Vernon; grandchildren, Tamaris Anderson of Plainfield, Reggie (Colby) Staten of North Vernon, Adrian Hunter of Brussels, Belgium, and Aaron (Amanda) Hunter Sr., and Dallas Washington, both of Omaha, Nebraska; great-grandchildren,  Da Shawn Hunter of Montana, Aaron Hunter Jr. of Bloomington, Brea Hunter of Fort Stewart, Georgia, Styles Hunter of Columbus, Marlee Staten and Max Staten, both of North Vernon and Mylee Miller of Indianapolis; and several nephews and nieces

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Ronnie Staten; brothers, George, William, Ray and Don Bolden; and sisters, Rosemary Bolden and Betty Washington.

A funeral service for Clara will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Anna Walker officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorials may be made in honor of Clara through the funeral home to the Second United Methodist Church.
