Cledoth Bowling, 82, of North Vernon, passed away at 5:20 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 2020, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.
Born March 13, 1938, in Delphia, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Harrison and Mary (Cress) Gilliam. She married Astor Bowling on August 25, 1956, in Blackey, Kentucky; he preceded her in death on January 31, 2002.
Cledoth worked in the fabric department and the dressing room at the North Vernon Walmart for 25 years. She attended Christ Baptist Church in North Vernon and T.O.P.S. (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly). Cledoth enjoyed sewing, gardening and being with her grandkids.
Survivors include her son, John (Debbie) Bowling of Dupont; daughters, Lisa (George) McClanahan of Paris Crossing and Lezlie Bowling of Dupont; grandchildren, Haley (J.D.) Proffitt and Charlie McClanahan, both of Paris Crossing, Kaitlyn (Jacob) Petry of North Vernon, Jonathan Bowling and Preston Bowling, both of Dupont, and Ashley McClanahan of Milan; and great-grandchildren, Lane and Luke Proffitt, both of Paris Crossing, Poppy and Rowan Petry, both of North Vernon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister, Evelee Whitaker; and brothers, Havard and Hassel Gilliam.
A funeral service for Cledoth will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Friday, July 10, 2020, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2020, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery.
