Clyde Winfield Cooley, 64, of Butlerville, passed away at 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at I.U. Health Methodist in Indianapolis.
Born March 5, 1957, in Winchester, Kentucky, he was the son of Chester Cooley and Frances (Clem) Rose.
Clyde ran the crushing machine for Dave O’Mara Contractors Inc. before retiring and had previously worked for Hanson’s in Hayden and as a heavy equipment operator for the Jennings County Highway Department. He served in the U.S. Army from 1979 until 1985. Clyde enjoyed fishing, being in the woods, cooking on the fire pit. He loved being a grandpa and being around and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his sons, Michael (Tyra) Cooley of Scipio, Trevor (Brittany) Cooley of North Vernon; step-son, Shawn Ison of Westport; step-daughter, Nikki (Tim) Johnson of San Jacinto and Melissa Ison of Columbus; brother, DeWayne (Tabitha) Brewer of Napoleon, Ohio; sisters, Elaine Basham of Commiskey and Bobbi Kay Lake of Starke, Florida; grandchildren, Brooklynn, Clara, MJ, Jaxon, Olivia, Reni, Maddie, Lilly, Nate, Alana, and Jake and nieces, Alaina Moody of Dupont, Lydia (Jody) Kipper of Napoleon, Ohio and Bethann Brown of Toledo, Ohio and nephew, Alex Brown of Napoleon, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Sharron Maddox and Jody Tingle; brother-in-law, Alan Basham.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 14, 2022, in the Indiana Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery Chapel in Madison with members of the American Legion providing military rites. Family and friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon on Thursday, January 13, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations be made in honor of Clyde through the funeral home to help with expenses.
