Cora M (Moore) Green

Cora M. Green, 90, of North Vernon, passed away at 1:36 p.m. on Sunday, December 31, 2023, at Autumn Trace North Vernon.

Born October 23, 1933, in Marion Township, Jennings County, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Lillie (Sparks) Moore. She married Paul Green, her husband of 68 years on December 24, 1951, at Cana Methodist Church in Jennings County; he preceded her in death on October 1, 2020.

Cora was the Valedictorian of the 1951 Paris Crossing High School graduating class. She worked 17 ½ years for the former Union Bank and Trust Company in North Vernon where she started at the walk-up window and advanced to assistant cashier. Cora also worked 3 ½ years for Farm Bureau Insurance and 3 ½ years as secretary for the First Christian Church, both in North Vernon. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and a former member of the AGAPE Mission Circle through the First Baptist Church and former member of the Friends of the Library, all in North Vernon. Cora was also a former member of Commiskey Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon, she also sold Avon.  Cora enjoyed baking, crocheting, being a caregiver, and was an excellent cook and loving grandmother.

Survivors include her sons, Mike (Candy) Green of North Vernon, Gary (Ann) Green of Seymour and Steve (Cindy) Green of Columbus; grandchildren, Julie (Jeff) Miller of Nashville, Tennessee, Emily (Adam) Conley of Greenwood, Melinda (Brandon) Wedde of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Ben (Tori) Green of Columbus, Jake Robertson, and Bonnie (Phil) Jones, both of North Vernon; and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Forrest and Earl Moore; and sister, Mary K. Rose.

A funeral service for Cora will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. The visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. A burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorials may be made in honor of Cora through the funeral home to the Jennings County Public Library for Friends of the Library.
