Dana Cresse Hillen

Dana Cresse Hillen, 76, of North Vernon, passed away at 8:15 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.

Born August 16, 1945, in Queensville, he was the son of Leo Richard and Margaret Ann (Kuntz) Hillen. He married Mary Higginbotham on December 31, 1975, in Edinburgh; she survives.

Dana was a 1963 graduate of Shawe Memorial High School in Madison. He worked HVAC maintenance for Cummins Engine Company for 36 years before retiring in 1999. Dana was a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed history, fishing, hunting, traveling, riding motorcycles and reading.

Surviving with his wife, Mary Hillen of North Vernon, are his sons, John David (Sharon) Hillen of Germantown, Ohio, Douglas Hillen of Hollywood, Florida and Matthew (Amy) Hillen of Morristown; daughter, Mackenzie Hillen of North Vernon; brothers, John (Kathy) Hillen of North Vernon and Charles (Phil) Hillen, of Concord, New Hampshire; sisters, Tami Brown and Frances (Robert) Leonard, both of North Vernon, Mary (James) Vincent and Margaret Fouts, both  of Columbus, and Ann Compton of Franklin; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Christina Carbone; and brother, Tony Hillen.

A memorial service for Dana will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with Rev. Daniel Ison offering closing prayer. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

Memorials may be made in honor of Dana through the funeral home to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
