Danny Kyle Daugherty

Danny Kyle Daugherty, 73, of North Vernon, passed away at 12:50 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2023, at Ascension St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.

Born March 4, 1950, in Jellico, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Charles Rice and Martha Jane Daugherty.

Danny was a 1969 graduate of Jellico High School in Jellico, Tennessee and served in the U.S. Army from 1970-1972 during the Vietnam War. He worked as a machinist for Metaldyne in North Vernon for several years before retiring. Danny was a gunsmith and enjoyed motorcycles, fishing, and gardening. He loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his brother, Merrell (Bonnie) Jones of Blackfoot, Idaho; sisters, Mitzie (Ed) Halcomb of North Vernon, Margie Swinney of Hayden, and Kimmie Jo Lausten of Dupont; nieces and nephews, Olivia McMillan, Curtis Baker, and Rachel Jones, all of North Vernon, Michael (Ron) Schwipps of Milan, Joe (Becky) Creekmore of Weston, Wisconsin, Christopher (Crystal) Creedmore of Ardmore, Alaska, Amanda (Alan) Kelly of Holton, and Ashley Jones of Boise, Idaho; ten great-nieces and great-nephews; and two great-great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In keeping with his and his family’s wishes, cremation is planned with no services to be held at this time. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services were entrusted with the care of these arrangements.

Memorials in honor of Danny may be made through the funeral home to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
