David Allan Hartwell, 66, of Butlerville, passed away at 3:20 a.m. on Monday, April 4, 2022, at his residence.
Born September 6, 1955, he was the son of Lewis and Roberta (Vires) Hartwell. He married Judy Mitchell on December 12, 1997; she survives.
David ran the press for Jennings County Pallets. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching sports and going to the races.
Surviving with his wife, Judy, are his son, David Hartwell of North Vernon; step-daughters, Laura Hamel and Cassie (Doug) May, both of Columbus; brothers, Terry (Laura) Hartwell of Florida, Tom Hartwell of North Vernon, Dean (Jamie) Hartwell of Butlerville and Keith (Lisa) Hartwell of Dupont; sisters, Mary Goodin and Ceceila (Bill) Abbott, both of Lexington; grandchildren, Brent (Paula) McMillan and Orin (Aisha) Johnson, both of North Vernon, Thomas Johnson and Josiah Hamel, both of Butlerville, Kayonna Sword and Tyer Sword, both of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Austin Cornett, Bentley Bennett, Arbor McMillian, Owen Johnson and Charlie Johnson, all of North Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Melissa Reynolds; brother, Michael Hartwell; and brother-in-law, Ed Goodin.
A funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2022, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with Gerald Caudill officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until time of service on Thursday. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022, in the Rush Branch Cemetery in Jennings County.
Memorials may be made in honor of David through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society.
