David Raymond Nay, 70, of Jennings County passed away unexpectedly on April 13, 2023, at his home.
David was born in Columbus, Indiana February 19, 1953, the son of John H. and Dorothy E. (King) Nay. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1971. David was a gifted artist and had an insane love for music. Following high school, he toured as a stagehand and sound man for The Wright Brothers Overland Stage Company.
David returned to his Indiana home in the 1980’s, settling in Jennings County. He loved being outdoors and working with his hands. Dave was the jack of all trades. He could fix anything, and we all know it was his way or no way at all. Dave was a perfectionist and was seldom ever satisfied. He made his living working for Hinshaw Roofing Company for many years until his accident at First Christian Church. David then turned to his first love again, music, opening Paradise Studios at his home. There he recorded for so many. Only if those walls could talk. David worked for the Bartholomew County School System for a period of time, until he once again made Paradise Studios his main gig.
David worked gigs until his passing. He did sound at the Commons and the Crump Theater for various events, helped at venues across Indiana and surrounding states, and was recording in his studio whenever the chance would arise.
David was a proud father to Liz. A daughter who took his love of the arts. Liz was able to take her talents and make it her profession. Known as Elizabeth, Libby, or Liz, his only child, gave him his adorable grandchildren, Yolandi and Kieran, which he treasured very much. David had the incredible honor of walking Liz down the aisle to her husband Tracy Scott in October of 2022. Those are the ones left to wonder who will fix this?
David was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers John H. Nay and James E. Nay. Survivors include his daughter Elizabeth Scott (Tracy) of Columbus, IN. His grandchildren, Yolandi Mikulyuk and Kieran Larke Steigerwalt also of Columbus, IN. His brother William H. Nay (Nancy) of Columbus, IN and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation is planned and a private memorial may be held. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to FARM AID. No farms, no food. Just like Willie, Dave knew how to enjoy life!
