David E. “Big Dave” Wright, 71, of Commiskey, passed away at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at his residence.
Born March 6, 1955, in Seymour, he was the son of Bettie (Johnson) Wright and the late John Wright. He married Frances Perry on May 14, 1994, at the Coffee Creek Christian Church in Paris Crossing; she survives.
David was a graduate of Jennings County High School and was a lifelong full-time farmer. He was a member of Coffee Creek Christian Church, on the Montgomery Township Volunteer Fire Department and Commiskey Fall Festival Committee. David enjoyed spending time with his pride and joy great-grandsons Gunner and Walker, and taking care of animals. He was a very family-oriented man.
Surviving with his wife of 31 years, Frances; is his daughter, Anna Thompson of Elizabethtown; his mother, Bettie Wright of Commiskey; sisters, Sandy Wright and Barb (Garry) Ross both of Commiskey and Pam (Mitch) Royalty of Paris Crossing; granddaughter, Brooke McInteer of Commiskey; and great-grandsons, Gunner and Walker McInteer, both of Commiskey.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Wright; brother, Mark Wright; his grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
A funeral service for David will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Dan Corbin officiating. The visitation for family and friends is from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Sunday. The burial will follow in the Mt Zion Cemetery in Commiskey.
Memorials may be made in honor of David through the funeral home to a fund being established for his great-grandsons.
