Deanna Jones Obituary

Deanna Mae Jones, 81, a Jennings County native, passed away at 8:40 a.m. on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at her residence in Commiskey. Deanna was a former resident of Billings, Montana for several years.

Born January 14, 1943, in Columbus, she was the daughter of the late Earl Kenneth Sullivan Sr. and Helen Louise (Grow) Sullivan. She married LeRoy M. Jones Sr.  on November 18, 1995, in Las Vegas, Nevada; he preceded her in death in November of 2019.

Deanna was a 1961 graduate of Vernon High School in Vernon. She also worked and trained horses for 17 years, and worked retail for over 40 years, for local Wal-Mart’s. Deanna was involved in all daily aspects of operations for Huntley Project Museum in Huntley, Montana for over 10 years. She was an artist who enjoyed drawing, painting, and writing stories; she had several stories published in magazines as well as one published book.

She is survived by her daughters, Cheri D. Allen of Commiskey, Fawn (Darrell) Branum of Calhoun, Georgia, and Tonja M. Sullivan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister, Joanna Kay Sullivan of San Tan Valley, Arizona; nine grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, Earl K. “Sonny” Sullivan Jr.; and grandsons, Nathan Miller and Greg Moore.

In keeping with her and her family’s wishes, cremation is planned with private services to be held at a later date.  Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Domestic Violence Council.
