Deborah Fay (Stinson) Sorg

Deborah Fay “Debbie” Sorg, 67, of North Vernon, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Born June 25, 1953, in Seymour, the daughter of Emmett and Alma Jean (Bennett) Stinson. She married Charles Sorg on June 2, 1973 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in North Vernon; he survives.

Debbie was a 1971 graduate of Jennings County High School and worked as an associate for Walmart in North Vernon for 17 years before retiring in 2014, she had previously worked as a cook for Jennings County High School for six years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in North Vernon. Debbie enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards and bingo.

Surviving with her husband, Charles Sorg, are daughters, Deidra (Matt Starkey) Sorg of Seymour and Jeana Sorg of North Vernon; brother, Emmett (Debbie) Stinson of North Vernon; sisters, Vicky (Greg) Moore of Newburgh and Cindy Smith of Davenport, Florida; and granddaughter, Kayla Moriarty of Seymour.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Judy Hupp, Donna Young and Joyce Ellis.

A funeral service for Debbie will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 1, 2021, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in North Vernon with the Rev. Jerry Byrd officiating. Family and friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service on Sunday, February 28, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Rosery Service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorials may made in honor of Debbie through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society or American Kidney Foundation.
