Debra Joy “Debby” Thompson, 63, of Shelbyville, passed away at 10:56 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2020, at her residence.
Born January 14, 1957 in New Castle, she was the daughter of Herbert E. and Dorothy (Haynes) Lacy.
Debby was 1975 high school graduate in Muncie and attended Ball State University in Muncie. She worked several years as a caregiver for residential services at the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville and worked in home health care. Debby enjoyed drag racing, soap operas, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Joey (Nikki) Gindhart of North Vernon, Craig Worley of New Paris, Ohio, and Angela (Roger) Clark of Mitchell; companion, Gary Humphrey, of Shelbyville, and his son, Phillip Humphrey of Hope; grandchildren, Xavior Gindhart, Arcadia Gindhart, and Atlanta Gindhart, all of North Vernon, and Carter Oblak, Jailynn Oblak, Karma Smith, and Gabe Smith, all of Mitchell; and cousin, Nina (Cliff) Tarleton of Blountville, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Jerry Byrd officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home in honor of Debby for help with expenses.
