Delorse Imogene Dean, 86, of North Vernon, passed away at 11:02 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at her home.
Born July 1, 1938, in Decatur County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary Deloris (Hines) Bowen. She married William Robert Dean Sr. on May 20, 1959, in Grammer; he preceded her in death on August 8, 2001.
Delorse was a homemaker, had managed Hickory Manor and Vista Village Mobile Home Parks, and had worked for White Front Café and Swans, both in North Vernon. She enjoyed flower gardening; watching TV, especially Hallmark movies; working word search puzzles; painting; and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, William Robert Dean Jr. and Darren Lee Dean, both of North Vernon; daughters, Debby (Mike) Elliott of Lawrenceburg and Melody Halfacre of North Vernon; brother, Richard (Marlena) Bowen of St. Paul; eighteen grandchildren; sixty great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Cindy Lou Dean; brothers, David, Lloyd, and Robert Bowen; sisters, Betty Lou Dean and Beulah Collins; and grandchildren, Ernest Pittman and John Blount Jr.
A funeral service for Delorse will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Scipio.
Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home in honor of Delorse to the Arthritis Foundation.
