Dennis Stevie Craft, 76, of North Vernon, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2020, at his residence.
Born May 27, 1944, in Whitesburg, Kentucky, the son of James Willard and Pearlie Jane (Stallard) Craft.
Dennis was a 1962 graduate of North Vernon High School and served as a machinist mate in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. He worked maintenance for Atmosphere Annealing for six years before retiring and had previously worked maintenance for Golden Casting and Muscatatuck State Developmental Center. He was a member and former quartermaster of Matt Hester Post #2021, V.F.W., member of North Vernon Moose Lodge, Am Vet’s Post #7 in North Vernon and a former member of the American Legion in North Vernon. Dennis enjoyed gardening, working on vehicles and tractors, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughters, Crystale (Nick) Cohen and Carla Craft, both of North Vernon; companion, Mary Senior of North Vernon; brother, Billy Craft of North Vernon; grandchildren, Justice Antel of Seymour, Kiersten Ponder, Kristen Ponder, Katie Craft and Jayden Bridges, all of North Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roy and Kenneth Craft; and sister, Betty Downey.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2020, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon with military graveside rites provided by members of Matt Hester Post #2021, V.F.W.
