Dexter J. Clem, 65, of North Vernon, passed away at 7:42 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.
Born November 19, 1960, in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Dexter Thomas Clem and Opal Frances Clay Clem. He married Frances Riffel on April 8, 1983, in North Vernon; she survives.
Dexter attended Jennings County High School and owned and operated Clem Towing and Lockout Service in North Vernon for three years. He previously worked as a truck driver for M Hart Trucking in Hope for 40 years. He was a former member of Butlerville Mennonite Church and currently attended The Worship Center in Westport. Dexter enjoyed going to the races, playing bingo, camping, fishing, working on trucks, and singing karaoke.
Surviving with his wife, Frances, are his son, Will (Amy) McRoberts of Dupont; his daughter, Samantha (Antonio) Garcia of North Vernon; sister, Myrtle (Carroll) Hawkins of North Vernon; grandchildren, Corbin (Sammi) McRoberts, Elijah McRoberts, Lyidia McRoberts, Grayson McRoberts, Isiah McRoberts, and Stella McRoberts, all of Dupont, Jacob McRoberts of Lancaster, Adrien Villatoro, Katelynn Villatoro, Julianna Montes, Clairabell Montes, Reina Montes, Rosalyn Garcia, and William Garcia, all of North Vernon, and Cary McRoberts of Seymour; and great-grandchildren, Carson McRoberts and Savannah McRoberts, both of Dupont.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Chester and Dee Taulbee; and sister, Frances Rose Clem Rose.
A funeral service for Dexter will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Dale Boyd officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in North Vernon.
