Don R. "Boz" Wood

Don R. “Boz” Wood, 90, of North Vernon, passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour at 6:47 p.m.

Born May 20, 1931, in Hanover, he was the son of the late Oliver Perry and Jessie Elizabeth (Schloe) Wood. He married Edith Marie (Kidwell) Wood on March 6, 1952, in Madison; she survives.

Don served in the U.S. Marines from December of 1951 until December of 1953. He was self-employed, working in the heating, electrical, and plumbing industries in addition to being a backhoe operator. Don enjoyed his work, and he loved spending time with his family, running around in his dune buggy, and camping.

He is survived by his wife; his daughter, Nancy (Jack) Brooks of North Vernon; son, Terry (Julie) Wood of North Vernon; grandchildren, Christopher (Karen) Brooks of North Vernon, Pamela (Brad) Stuckwisch of Seymour, and Dr. Katie (Brice) McPherson of Nashville, Tennessee; and great grandchildren, Alexis and Taylor Stuckwisch of Seymour, Riley and Allie Brooks of North Vernon, and James Rowan McPherson of Nashville, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tom and Bill Wood; sisters, Mary Giltner and Lottie Young; and grandson, Jeremy Wood.

A funeral service for Don will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, July 5, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in honor of Don through the funeral home to the Lutheran Home.
