Donald Eugene Moir

Donald Eugene Moir, 71, of North Vernon, passed away at his residence on November 19, 2021.

Born January 21, 1950, in Columbus, he was the son of the late Arnold Moir and Katherine (Cheek) Cain. He married Coral (Brooks) Moir on April 23, 1994, in North Vernon; she survives.

Donald graduated from Columbus High School in 1969. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp.  He worked as a carpenter for a total of 60 years before retiring from Gibson Construction in 2018. Donald was a member of the American Legion and loved golfing, fishing, and mushroom hunting. He was a history buff, science fiction fan, and a cancer survivor. Donald truly adored his wife.

Surviving with his wife are his children, Anthony “A.J.” (Cheyenne England) Moir of North Vernon, Amber (Kevin) Roberts of Seymour, Melissa Hester of Florida, Danielle “D.D.” Williams, James Earl, and Nicholas (Danielle) Earl, all of North Vernon, and Fonda (Adam) Abbott of Cleveland, Tennessee; brother, Charles Eaglewolf of Florida; sister, Melanie Day of Columbus; and grandchildren, Lexis Wingate, Abby Phelps, Austin Wingate, and Jazmen Phelps, all of North Vernon, Tristan Earl and Andrew Earl, both of Madison, Xavier Earl of Commiskey, Reece Abbott, Addison Abbott, Sam Abbott, and Ryder Abbott, all of Cleveland, Tennessee, Mallorie Silcox and Mackenzie Hester, both of Columbus, Bryce Silcox and Ethan Silcox, both of Seymour, Tristen Hester of Arizona, and Brandon Hester of Manchester, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life for Donald will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 22, 2021, at the Rudicel Family Event Center, 408 South State Street, North Vernon. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made through the funeral home to help with expenses.
