Donald Eugene Ray Jr., 67, of North Vernon passed away at 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at his residence.
Born May 21, 1952, in Seymour, he was the son of Donald Eugene Ray Sr. and Eleanor Jean (Scott) Ray. He married Gaile Coffey on July 1, 1985, in Fernandina Beach, Florida; she survives.
Donald was a 1970 graduate of Jennings County High School and served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He worked construction his entire life. Donald enjoyed woodworking, gardening, playing video games, and family get-togethers.
Surviving with his wife, Gaile, are daughters, Rebekah N. Ray of North Vernon and Stacy (Frank) Batts of Paris Crossing. Brother, Charles Ray of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; sister, Diane Abbott of Seymour; grandchildren, Amber (Gilbert) Hawkins, Wendy (Sammy) Combest, Megan (Kyle) Grunden, Mindy Batts, Matthew (Chelsea) Graham, Sarah (Luke Bozell) Graham, Kassandra Batts, Maryam Batts, and Harley Batts; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Aaron Graham and sister, Reva Minton.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 15, 2019, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service with Charles Ray officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
