Donald Edward Stroud

Donald Edward Stroud, 74, of Scipio, passed away at 10:55 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Brown County Health and Living Community in Nashville.

Born January 5, 1950, in New Albany, he was the son of the late George and Elizabeth (Boston) Stroud. He married Sue Ann (Toler) Stroud on September 5, 1970, in Georgetown; she preceded him in death on March 19, 2020.

Don graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in Jackson, Kentucky in 1968 and went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force from December of 1971 until his retirement in January of 1992. He worked for Diemet Corp in Columbus in shipping and receiving for 13 years, as an over road truck driver for AWS for 5 years, and for Morgan Landscaping in North Vernon for several years. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in North Vernon and enjoyed fishing and NASCAR.

He is survived by his son, David (Sarah) Stroud of Elizabethtown; daughter, Angel Stroud of North Vernon; and grandchildren, Abby, Eli, and Max Stroud, all of Elizabethtown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his sister, Alice Schroeder.

A funeral service for Don will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with Rev. Caleb Reynolds officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison with military honors given by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.

Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home in honor of Don to the American Heart Association.
