Donald Allen "Shaf" Shafer

Donald Allen “Shaf” Shafer, 63, of North Vernon, passed away at 5:45 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2020, at his residence.

Born April 4, 1956, in Bartholomew County, he was the son of the late Donald Eugene and Charlene A. (Glasson) Shafer. He married Denise Shafer on March 27, 1982 in Bartholomew County; she survives.

Donald was a CNC machinist with several factories in the local area. He was a member of A.B.A.T.E. of Indiana and Chief of Road Crew at the Bean Blossom Boogie. He enjoyed collecting, painting, wood burning, playing guitar, music. He was very artistic and love to draw. He likedto say he was a “Jack of all trades and the Master of none.”

Surviving with his wife, Denise; are a daughter, Kelly (Jason) Michael of Bartholomew County; son, Josh (Amber) Shafer of Vernon; Anita (Rick) Rominger and Jennifer (Michael) Cobb both of Bartholomew County; brother, Roger (Marsha) Shafer of Bartholomew County; grandchildren, Hannah, Shelby, Cailin, Logan, Caleb, Josiah, and Annela; and great-grandchild, Wyatt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and aunt and uncle, Norma and Gene Elkins.

Memorials may be made in honor of Donald through the funeral home to help with expenses or to  St. Vincent de Paul.

In keeping with their wish’s cremation is planned and no services to be held at this time. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service was entrusted with the care of these arrangements.
